The role of the young generation within the fight against terrorism

Violence against civilians in pursuit of political, ideological and spiritual goals has broken out across the nation. This problem has turn into serious because the Nineteen Twentiesvol century and led to a mass insurrection of a certain group of individuals as a way to spread political power. This is what we call terrorism – a mass insurrection that causes murder in society within the name of political goals. Murderous acts, massive and brutal slaughter of individuals, took place not only amongst adults, but additionally amongst young people and even children, and the intervention forces took away hope from children and the young generation. The fundamental approach to use this power is to decisively withdraw from society, and the young generation plays a key role on this respect.

It can’t be denied that young individuals are in reality each perpetrators and victims of terrorist attacks that happen in large parts of nations, especially in Indonesia. If we glance back into the past, in 1965, Indonesia faced genocide between Suharto’s New Order regime and the Indonesian Communist Party in pursuit of political and ideological goals. The genocide often known as G30SPKI was influenced by Suharto’s propaganda to depose Sukarno as president of Indonesia. The genocide turned out to be a massacre of people that supposedly embodied themselves Indonesian Communist Party (Indonesian Communist Party).

Although the coup d’état took place way back within the Nineteen Sixties and disappeared from the Indonesian history textbook regarding the doctrine of the Suharto regime, it’s now erupting again amid rumors of the re-emergence of communism, which has sparked public protests amongst Indonesians. In this regard, the role of young people plays a key role in strengthening their capability to stop such terrorist attacks.

Bob Geldof, on the opening ceremony of the One Young Global Summit held in Thailand, stated that: “Call them millennials, call them the young generation, call them whatever you want, but please don’t call them the long run until they take responsibility for the current.” When Bob gave massage at this global gathering of future world leaders, he had young people in mind. In this case, in my view, strengthening literacy amongst Indonesians could possibly be a method the younger generation may help solve terrorism. Similar to what happened a number of weeks ago in Indonesia, where leftist books were burned for fear of a resurgence of communism, this can be a time when young people because the younger generation take motion. The campaign could be began, for instance, by carrying out quite a few modern programs, resembling a library campaign entitled 1000 Libraries Movement (1000 Libraries Movement), wherein young people establish 1,000 libraries offering books for youngsters and teenagers throughout Indonesia to encourage Indonesians to read. This is in step with what my friends and I are planning on doing in the town of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. We plan to construct a small free library called Reading lounge whose design would smell of “books and low”, a small library with a small cafe inside. People can read books totally free Reading lounge and it also costs nothing once they need to borrow books, only in the event that they return the books after the deadline we are going to charge you a fee. Moreover, as students of English literature, we conduct a monthly public discussion on political and literary topics, inviting several lecturers from our universities to this library. This would enable us to know something deeper and permit us to avoid any type of ignorance and assumptions. Therefore, by campaigning for these movements, people will have the ability to extend their knowledge and higher understand what communism actually is. Besides, since ignorance has turn into the fundamental reason for a lot of groups to ban anything related to communism in Indonesia, a greater approach to get people to avoid ignorance can be to extend media literacy.

Children’s library

To sum up, we, because the young generation, strive to tackle roles and responsibilities for each the current and the long run. Since there are such a lot of problems happening on this country on a regular basis, including infinite terrorist attacks on residents, it will be a shame for us to only sit and watch without taking any motion for a greater life. Moreover, it will be far more shameful if our thoughts and plans regarding our roles remained only in our heads and weren’t implemented. So it is time for us because the young generation to take motion and in reality the time is now. Action can start with small changes in the environment, and the event of media that increases literacy through a library campaign can be a great approach to reduce the variety of terrorist attacks amongst residents. This motion remains to be a small thing, but small things can turn into big if we do it with great commitment.
