Key to Aceh-Andaman link to spice up trade between Indonesia and India

Indonesia and India plan to enhance connectivity between Indonesia’s Aceh province and India’s Andaman and Nicobar islands to unlock business potential and increase bilateral trade to $50 billion by 2025.

“The proximity of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Aceh is an excellent opportunity to ascertain a business partnership. We can deliver the products [to Andaman and Nicobar] more effectively than waiting for a delivery from India,” Acting Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah said throughout the India-Indonesia Investment and Business Forum in Jakarta on Monday, quoted by Jakarta Post Office.

According to economic times, India and Indonesia, aiming to attain a $50 billion trade goal by 2025, are considering latest areas of investment, including Aceh-Andaman connectivity, which might open up huge business opportunities in various sectors including healthcare, tourism, energy , construction and agricultural processing and fishing.

The forum was inaugurated jointly by Ina H Krisnamurthi, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy, and Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Ambassador of India, and LR Nova Iriansyah, Acting Governor of Aceh.

India and Indonesia are maritime countries. Both neighbors have the biggest economies in each regions. According to Indonesian media, in 2018 the trade value of each countries reached USD 18 billion Between.
