Luang Prabang is no 1 in Laos

A world cultural heritage site, LuangPrabang Province continues to rank first within the country within the variety of accommodation, restaurant and entertainment facilities, reaching a complete of 820 in 2016.

According to the statistical report of the Department of Tourism Development of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for 2016, the variety of accommodation facilities, restaurants and entertainment facilities increased from 591 in 2015, which might be the results of the event of tourism and the expansion the country has seen in recent times.

Meanwhile, the capital Vientiane still ranks second with nearly 802 seats in 2016, also up from 565 in 2015.

Vientiane Province can also be famous for its nature tourism sites, especially those positioned in Vangvieng District, which got here in third place with 584 places, followed by Khammuan Province with 471 places, while Oudomxay Province got here in fifth and sixth place with 396 places and Savannakhet province with 395 seats. .

Moreover, Champassak Province, the country’s second world cultural heritage site, ranked seventh from the highest with 338 sites.

The report also showed that the bottom rating was Xekong province, positioned within the southern region of the country, with a complete variety of 109 places, just under the newly created province of Xaysomboun, which had a complete of 122 places.

The total variety of accommodation, restaurant and entertainment venues across the country in 2016 totaled 6,311 places, registering a big increase in only one 12 months from 4,277 places in 2015.

While the variety of accommodations, restaurants and entertainment facilities has increased, the report also notes that tourist arrivals have fallen from 4.6 million in 2015 to only 4.2 million people in 2016, and revenues have also fallen barely from just over $725 million in 2015 to only over $724 million in 2016.

However, the federal government is currently attempting to advertise tourist attractions across the country, hoping to draw more tourists ahead of the “Laos Visit Year 2018”.
