Memory industry giant Micron Technology is ramping up production of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to fulfill growing demand within the era of artificial intelligence (AI). This initiative includes establishing a pilot HBM production line within the United States and considering constructing the primary HBM production facility in Malaysia.
Micron goals to extend its HBM market share to 24-26% by the tip of 2025, which is able to approach the standard DRAM market share of around 23-25%.
It was also previously reported that Micron is constructing a brand new DRAM factory in Hiroshima, Japan. Construction is scheduled to start in early 2026, with completion expected in late 2027. This factory will likely be situated next to the prevailing Fab15 facility and can deal with DRAM production, with a specific deal with HBM products.
