More and more young Cambodians are selecting entrepreneurship because of the event of technology and support from various social groups.
Entrepreneurship has the potential to assist the Southeast Asian country grow by creating latest jobs, generating more national tax revenue, improving living standards and driving positive social change.
Kuy Vat, vp of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), tells DW that in comparison with the past, young Cambodians at the moment are way more aware of entrepreneurship because they’ve higher access to information.
He adds that the involvement of business associations also contributes to the rise within the variety of young entrepreneurs in Cambodia.
Government and business associations are also starting to pay more attention to entrepreneurship.
Ros Soklim, spokesman for Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, tells DW that entrepreneurship is a component of the education reform. “Our youth should be equipped with each school skills and real-world economic skills.”
Some young entrepreneurs in Cambodia are already ready to begin their very own businesses from scratch and contribute to changing their society.
Hav Kongngy, founding father of My Dream Home, couldn’t afford a house after working hard for seven years. He was struck by how others with much less income than he was struggling. It inspired him to run a business that gives low- and moderate-income families with cheaper alternatives.
“We are an agent of change contributing to the housing sector by reducing house prices by 20-40 percent. The materials utilized in construction are also more environmentally friendly,” Kongngy tells DW.
Hav was also named considered one of the 10 Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs within the World by the Global Innovation Challenge, organized by the eighth Sankalp Global Summit in Mumbai, India.
Although there may be a whole lot of potential and energy, latest and future entrepreneurs still have so much to learn. He adds that older and experienced entrepreneurs are at all times able to help orient younger generations and increase productivity together.
