Everyone agrees that Thailand is the most popular tourist destination in Asia and is amongst the most popular destinations on this planet. Millions of individuals come to Thailand for its wonderful landscape, culture and… reasonably priced prices. Indeed, traveling and spending time in Thailand is de facto reasonably priced.
However, despite its low cost price, Thailand outperforms every other country in Asia with regards to tourism spending, in line with the UN World Tourism Organization.
It raked in $57 billion in international tourism receipts last 12 months, almost double that of Macau ($36 billion), Japan ($34 billion), Hong Kong ($33 billion) and China ($33 billion). Globally, the one countries that surpass Thailand in tourism revenue are France ($61 billion), Spain ($68 billion) and the United States, which easily takes the gold medal with $211 billion.
It all comes right down to volume. The variety of arrivals from abroad may reach 40 million next 12 months, which is greater than half of the country’s population.
“There is something for everyone in Thailand,” says Rebecca Mazzaro, specialist at ATJ, a custom furnishings company. “From a private island with a private villa to amazing street food meals that only cost a few bucks, it offers variety and variety that few other markets can offer. No wonder a lot of people are leaving and spending money,” he says.
“There is no doubt that historically Bangkok – and Thailand in general – has always been viewed as a valuable travel destination,” says John Blanco, general manager of the upcoming five-star Capella Bangkok hotel, which is able to open next spring and have 101 suites overlooking the Chao Phraya River . “But there has been a real effort to change that perception.”
Mastercard’s annual Global Destination Cities Index ranked Bangkok amongst probably the most visited cities in 2017 for the third 12 months in a row. The study, based on undisclosed public data sources quite than cardholder transactions, shows travelers are spending $173 a day within the Thai capital, in comparison with $537 in Dubai and $286 in Singapore. It predicts travelers will spend a further 14 percent more this 12 months.
