“Midnight Show” tells the story of a bankrupt podium theater that tries to search out itself again by screening a previously withdrawn controversial film titled “Bocah.” “Bocah” is a movie a couple of boy named Bagas who murdered his family 15 years ago. During the screening, a member of the audience was murdered and the killer imprisoned everyone present within the cinema.
The thriller is the feature debut of director Ginanti Rona, who was an assistant director on the famous motion film “The Raid”. It stars Gandhi, Acha Septriasa, Ganindra Bimo and Ratu Felisha. It premiered in Indonesian cinemas in January 2016. The film faced some challenges in gaining screen time on national television, however it managed to draw audiences at film festivals that value the thriller and slasher genres.
