HOW well is the world doing with the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals? Not quite well, it seems, wrote Zakri Abdul Hamid in Malaysia’s New Straits Times.
Three years after United Nations member states agreed an ambitious 15-year program at a summit in New York, a 3rd summary of the federal government’s efforts has been published; 2018 Sustainable Development Goals Index and Dashboards Report.
Detailed two-page profiles of progress on the SDGs for every indicator making up the index are provided for all UN member states, together with a sign of trend data on how quickly countries are making progress.
The report by Bertelsmann Stiftung and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) estimates whether a rustic is prone to achieve a particular sustainable development goal, based on historical progress rates.
How did Southeast Asian countries fare?
You can see how countries within the region achieved on all 17 SDGs listed below:
Note: Brunei shouldn’t be included within the 2018 SDG Index as a consequence of insufficient data availability.
It clearly shows that no country is heading in the right direction to fulfill all targets by 2030.
These include ending poverty and hunger, promoting good education, health and well-being, achieving clean water and sanitation in addition to reasonably priced and clean energy, and achieving gender equality.
We hope that this report will likely be helpful enough for nations within the region to evaluate their performance and, furthermore, to be sure that each of the weather presented is achievable for the good thing about humanity.
