Singapore-based marketplace startup Carousell will donate as much as $2 million in ad inventory to support nonprofits in 4 Asian markets which are helping communities affected by Covid-19, the startup announced on Thursday (April 16).
The online marketplace operator’s initiative will enable non-profit organizations from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines to advertise on its platform and gain greater visibility.
This will support the organization’s efforts to restock food and essential health products and acquire donations to cover living costs, Carousell said.
It may even help recruit volunteers and other initiatives involving look after at-risk families and seniors in need, the start-up added.
The initiative will likely be launched in collaboration with existing partnerships including the Singapore Red Cross, Give.Asia, Free Food for All in Singapore, Parents Without Partners in Malaysia, Habitat For Humanity in Hong Kong and Caritas Manila within the Philippines.

“Bringing our advertising to millions of Carousell users will help strengthen our organization’s position and provide a continuous source of information,” said Benjamin William, Secretary-General and CEO of the Singapore Red Cross.
Carousell generated revenue of US$7 million (S$10 million) for 2018, and last yr said it could give attention to promoting dollars to generate revenue.
