At Changi Airport, the primary business flights will arrive and leave Terminal 4 in the approaching weeks as a part of the ultimate phase of trials before the brand new terminal officially opens, Changi Airport Group (CAG) said on Wednesday (June 21).
The trials will cover chosen airline flights that may operate from the terminal. These include Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific, Korean Air, Spring Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, in addition to 4 AirAsia airlines. Flight tests have recently been conducted with military charter flights.
In recent months, volunteers have taken on the role of passengers, testing airport systems and processes. These include Fast and Seamless Travel (FAST) package, security screening, GST refund, baggage collection, ground transportation, wayfinding, passenger and baggage transfer and apron vehicle movement.
All gates are equipped with facial recognition technology. Passengers’ identities are verified by matching their faces to the photos of their passports. In total, over 100 studies were conducted, involving over 2,000 volunteers and 1,000 airport employees.

The two airlines moving to T4, Cathay Pacific and AirAsia, have been providing passengers with FAST options since February this yr in Terminal 1, where they currently operate. The response has been positive, with greater than half of airline passengers selecting the FAST option within the last three months.

“Our main goal is to implement all operational readiness trials, and this process began in October last year,” Ms. Poh Li San, CAG vp for T4 program management, told Channel News Asia.
“So far, we have conducted over 100 tests, involving over 2,000 volunteers and over 1,000 airport employees who conducted trials with us.”
