New Southeast Asian riders for the 2019 MotoGP World Championship

To discover and develop riders from the Asian region to compete at the very best level, Honda participates within the FIM* MotoGP World Championship within the Moto2 class and Moto3 class as Honda Team Asia.

Honda announced that its teams will participate within the 2019 FIM Moto2 World Championship (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) and the Moto3 World Championship (Honda Team Asia).

IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia welcomes Indonesian rider Dimas Ekky Pratama and Thai rider Somkiat Chantra and can compete within the 2019 Moto2 season with these two riders.

Pratama currently races for the Astra Honda Racing team within the FIM CEV Moto2 European Championship. Chantra races for the Asia Talent Team within the FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship. Both riders are the pride of their countries.

“The opportunity to compete in a Grand Prix race within the Moto2 class for one full season is a worthwhile opportunity that I’m looking forward to. The challenge might be completely different to CEV Moto2 since the engine is different. Nevertheless, armed with my previous experience within the CEV Moto2 class and the Moto2 GP wild card, I’ll attempt to adapt quickly and provides my all within the Moto2 GP next 12 months.
