Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia are planning to open a brand new sea route that can connect the islands of Trat in Thailand with Kien Giang in Vietnam and Sihanoukville in Cambodia, aiming to spice up trade, investment, tourism and the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry.
The initiative was discussed on the CVTEC-Trat Business Roadshow 2024, which was chaired by Trat Governor Natthapong Sanguanjit and attended by representatives from six provinces from three countries, in addition to TCT President Chamnan Srisawat and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) Senior Vice President Puripan Bunnag.
TCT and TCEB are currently accelerating the organization of CVTEC conference to advertise the brand new sea route connecting Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. The route is anticipated to create “one market, three destinations” by promoting trade, investment, tourism and MICE industry. In addition, the route will likely be a tourist attraction attributable to the natural beauty and cultural richness it offers.
To strengthen cooperation, representatives of the private and public sectors of Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen trade, investment, tourism and MICE industry along the brand new sea route. TCEB is optimistic that Thailand is prepared for this project and if successful, tourists will give you the option to travel from Pattaya to Laem Chabang, Trat, Sihanoukville and Kien Giang and vice versa.
The aim is to open this sea route in the course of the peak tourist season in November this yr. It is anticipated that this route will change into a brand new tourist attraction, and Phu Quoc, the biggest island in southern Vietnam, known for its natural beauty, will likely be one among the destinations.
