The first World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) was officially opened by Triawan Munaf, head of the Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf), in Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday.
“Our youth are the main source of creative energy that continues to ignite destructive forces to make the world a better place… We should work together to achieve new breakthroughs that will shake the world,” Triawan said, as quoted by Globe Jakarta.
The WCCE conference will probably be held in Bali on 7-8 November and can deal with issues and challenges related to the creative economy.
The meeting, organized by Bekraf in cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is attended by delegates from over 40 countries and two thousand participants, in response to Between.
“This brand has been appreciated by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). This conference was appreciated and we hope that it can be held often,” he noted after the opening of the WCCE.
With the slogan “Inclusively Creative”, Indonesia desires to send a message to the world that the creative economy has the potential to grow to be the most important engine of the country’s economic growth. The resources of the creative economy come from human ideas, which is able to never run out so long as humans exist.
“Inclusive creativity must provide opportunities for everybody. In this era of globalization, the creative economy should be accessible to everyone, in all places,” said Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi.
The Minister stressed the necessity for cooperation between technology and creativity through innovation for the creative economy, which may contribute to the event of the national economy and ensure people’s well-being.

The three-day event began with a gathering of the Friends of the Creative Economy, which brought together delegations from different countries, academia, creative entities, communities and media to debate and formulate the Bali Declaration, which is to be presented to the UN General Assembly next yr.
Over 20 world-famous personalities from the creative world will speak on the conference.
Speakers include Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Lisa Russell, Moonton (Mobile Legend) CEO and Co-Founder Justin Yuan, Net Mediatama Television CEO and Co-Founder Wihsnutama Kusubandio, China Film Group Corporation President Le Kexi, and Tokopedia CEO William Tanuwijaya.
The Creativillage event may also showcase several global creative products comparable to Disney, Grab, TikTok, Shopee, Potato Head, Bukalapak, and Mobile Legend.
In addition, the event showcased Bekraf’s flagship programmes, which aim to develop and strengthen national ecosystems.

Flagship programs include Akatara, an Indonesian film financing forum where creatives from the film industry meet with investors; Bekraf Developer Day, an event that brings together app developers; and Unity in Diversoto, a program that introduces the international community to several types of traditional Indonesian soup called soto.
Indonesian authorities consider its creative industry is developing promisingly, because it contributed greater than 922 trillion rupiah ($61 billion) to gross domestic product in 2016, or about 7.4 percent.
Triawan said globalization and advanced technology have modified the face of creative industries.
He added that Indonesia had strengthened its position as a pacesetter in the worldwide creative economy.
