The sixtieth anniversary of the Russian House in Indonesia was celebrated in Jakarta with a solemn ceremony highlighting sixty years of cultural, educational and people-to-people diplomacy between Indonesia and the Russian Federation. This landmark event brought together diplomats, public figures, scientists, cultural practitioners and media staff who played an energetic role in fostering mutual understanding between the 2 nations.
Founded in 1965 because the Russian Center for Science and Culture, the Russian House was established during a key period in global and regional diplomacy when Indonesia opened latest channels of communication with the Soviet Union. Over the many years, the institution has evolved, remaining steadfast in its mission – constructing bridges of friendship through culture, science, education and youth exchange. Recipients included Good News from Indonesia (GNFI) and Good News from Southeast Asia (Seasia), each recognized for his or her roles in promoting constructive narratives and strengthening people-to-people ties between Russia and Indonesia through positive cross-border journalism.
In his official remarks, Nikita Shilikov, director of the Russian House in Indonesia, emphasized the enduring spirit of partnership that has defined the institution’s sixty-year history. “May the fireplace of our friendship proceed to shine brightly” he said, expressing hope that the flame of friendship between the 2 countries will proceed to shine brightly within the years to return.
The anniversary event was held along with the “Russian Days of Spiritual Culture”, which is a component of the international initiative “Russian Seasons”. According to the official program, this system began with a photographic exhibition entitled Russian cultural heritagecurated by the Russian Geographical Society, offering visitors a visible journey through the country’s enormous cultural and geographical diversity.
The celebration reached its artistic peak with a night concert with the participation of the winners of the distinguished International Competition. Piotr Tchaikovsky. World-class Russian musicians – pianist Sergey Davydchenko, violist Daniil Kogan and tenor Igor Morozov – gave powerful and emotionally wealthy performances that captivated the audience. Their presence highlighted the universal language of music as a cornerstone of cultural diplomacy and mutual recognition.
Certificates of Honor, dated December 7, 2025 and signed by the Director of the Russian House in Indonesia, symbolized institutional gratitude for a few years of cooperation.
