Americans top the list of notoriously misbehaving tourists. In the Triposo survey referenced Business expertrespondents often described US travelers as loud, rude and culturally insensitive.

Stereotypes about Americans abroad include poor fashion sense, noisy behavior in public spaces, and an inclination to dominate conversations and activities without regard to local norms.

This view is so widespread that even some Americans admit that their compatriots are considered the worst tourists on the planet.

In second place are travelers from Great Britain. British tourists are sometimes related to ‘lewd bar behavior’ and an inclination to drink excessively while on holiday, especially at events resembling stag and hen parties.

This style of revelry can border on loud and indecent in public spaces, resulting in a status amongst locals and other tourists as being inconsiderate or disruptive while abroad.

Unlike some stereotypes that portray the British as overly polite, this travel theme highlights the wild side that comes out in a foreign land.

3. Russia

Interestingly, many Russians have reportedly admitted that their fellow residents can behave at their worst when visiting other countries.

China is next on the list of worst-behaved tourists. With the most important population on the planet, Chinese travelers naturally make up a significant slice of the world’s tourist population.

The Australians are in fifth place. Australian travelers enjoy exploring the world and are known for his or her adventurous spirit, but that very same spirited attitude can sometimes be misinterpreted.

German tourists are seen by some because the worst behaved, rating sixth. Travelers from Germany may receive complaints about frequent whining and perceived harshness related to travel.

While this may occasionally be misunderstood by hosts and other travelers, it contributes to their place on lists of nationalities behaving inappropriately within the travel industry.

India is in seventh place. According to the identical study, Indian travelers were noticed for behavior that some respondents found lower than praiseworthy.

With India’s rapidly growing middle class, more residents than ever are exploring the world, and never all are conversant in international norms and etiquette.

This can sometimes result in misunderstandings or actions which might be perceived by locals and other tourists as disrespectful or disturbing.

Next on the list are French tourists. While France itself is a top travel destination, its residents abroad sometimes have a status for behaving rudely or outrageously.

Whether it is a perceived aloofness, a dismissive attitude towards local customs, or just a cultural preference for directness, French tourists could appear less considerate than their hosts would really like.

9. Italy

Italy ranks ninth on the list. A survey shows that Italian travelers are described as more rude and lewd in comparison with other people.

Finally, Brazilian tourists complete the list. Many survey respondents placed tenth. Brazilians were perceived by many respondents as particularly “rude” travelers.

Cultural stereotypes related to celebrations resembling Carnival can influence this perception, where exuberance and high energy levels are common features.

Although many Brazilian travelers are respectful and enthusiastic explorers, survey results indicate that some behaviors have left a negative impression amongst international observers.
