Singapore is replacing an abandoned car parking zone with an incredible skyscraper crammed with hundreds of plants

The tower, which was commissioned this week, might be built on the location of a former abandoned car parking zone.

Look on the tower below.

The green tower, scheduled to open in 2021, will stand in the middle of Singapore’s central business district.

The investment is financed by CapitaLand Limited, CapitaLand Commercial Trust and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd.

It might be considered one of the tallest towers in the town, 300 meters high. The plants will grow on the lower floors of the steel and glass facade and on the roof.

In the middle, tropical vegetation will grow on 4 interconnected levels of what the architects call the “Green Oasis”.

Visitors will work, attend events or loosen up here. They can even spend time within the jungle, cocoons within the treetops, hammocks or cafes.

The indoor garden also includes a spiral botanical promenade.

The tower’s design reflects the growing architectural trend of green workplaces. According to some studies, trees or plants could make employees more patient, healthier and more focused.

Another recent example of this trend is Amazon’s latest glass office space, called Spheres, that opened in Seattle in January. Corporate employees work there with 40,000 plants of 400 species.

The CRA and BIG Tower will add a bit of more greenery to Singapore’s skyline.
