The KL Youth Summit presents resolutions geared toward the event of the Muslim world

Delegates from 22 countries who gathered for the 2019 Kuala Lumpur Summit (KL Summit) held discussions on six clusters that aim to strengthen youth well-being through education, catalyze the digital economy and empower youth’s future in politics , Borneo Post reported.

Other clusters included the gig economy and sustainability, adapting to the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0), and promoting fairness and transparency in ensuring good governance.

Among other things, they advocate the creation of a youth empowerment monitoring body to trace the progress and implementation of youth-related initiatives, issues and indicators in participating countries.

They plan to jointly sign a memorandum of understanding to determine the legality and bounds of the authority.

Another resolution calls for the creation of a business incubation program for aspiring entrepreneurs on the stage before and after the thought is created.

Malaysia’s youngest minister today urged world Muslim leaders to make youth an integral a part of the discourse of their countries ahead of a key summit on Islamic “resurgence”.

Minister for Youth and Sports Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman opened the KL Youth Summit 2019 here, calling on governments to take heed to the voices of younger generations and ensure their equal representation in political decision-making.

He said there should be a “united signal” from Muslim countries to acknowledge the contribution of young people.

“They don’t just need to have a spot on the dialogue table, they need to have a spot on the decision-making table,” he said about young people all over the world, quoted by Malay Post.

“We are equally capable,” he added.

Delegates are also pushing for the creation of a so-called “Youth House of Ideas”, an education advisory center tasked with identifying key issues and problems on this sector amongst Islamic nations.

Regarding IR 4.0, participants proposed the creation of the so-called “Youth Powerhouse”, focusing, amongst other things, on training and education in the sector of IR 4.0 and providing jobs through cooperation with firms within the Muslim world.

The resolutions were presented to leaders attending the important KL summit, which began yesterday evening.
