The results are in – Qatar Airways is back on top with flying colours, winning first place within the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2019, CNN reported.
Last 12 months, the Gulf carrier was chosen for this position by Singapore Airlines, but now QatarAirways is celebrating its fifth 12 months winning this prestigious distinction – having previously won it in 2017, 2015, 2012 and 2011.
Qatar Airways also won the titles of World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best Business Class Seat and Best Airline within the Middle East.
Singapore Airlines – the carrier known for operating the world’s longest flight – took second place but in addition won key awards including World’s Best Cabin Crew, World’s Best First Class, Asia’s Best Airline and World’s Best First Class Seat .
In the world of budget air travel, AirAsia won the title of World’s Best Low-Cost Airline, and Japan Airlines won the World’s Best Economy Class and Best Economy Class seats.
“This is a proud moment for the airline as our continued innovation and service standards set the benchmark in our industry,” says Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker.
Skytrax awards are considered one of the prestigious within the industry – they’re awarded by consumer voting.
Airline executives celebrated at a ceremony held through the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France.
BIG WINNERS
The top ten is a known list of individuals from the world of aviation – with none major changes.
Qantas Airways was ranked eighth on the list after failing to interrupt into the highest 10 in 2019.
Lufthansa continues to be the one European airline in a position to break into the highest ten.
British Airways, which didn’t win any awards in 2018, this 12 months won the awards for Best Airline Staff in Europe, Best Airline Staff within the UK and Most Improved Airline in Europe.
Last 12 months, U.S. carriers didn’t win any of the worldwide awards, but this 12 months United Airlines won the award for the world’s best business class lounge.
The best airline in North America stays Air Canada, which also won the award for the world’s best business class lounge cuisine.
Air France continues its status in advantageous dining by winning the title of the world’s best first-class in-flight catering, and for those who’re traveling in economy class, you will clearly find the very best food on an EVA Air flight.
The best on-board entertainment went to Emirates, and EVA Air topped the rating of the Cleanest Airlines within the World.
