Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, East Java, was named essentially the most punctual airport in Southeast Asia in April 2018 by British air travel analytics firm OAG, Singapore’s Straits Times reported.
According to OAG research, Juanda airport recorded over 1,000 flights in a single month.
The results are based on independent research conducted by OAG and published within the April 2018 OAG Flightview Monthly OTP report.
Juanda’s on-time service performance was 95.5%, higher than the 87.1% of Singapore’s Changi International Airport.
On-time means arrivals and departures inside quarter-hour of scheduled times.
The list includes three airports managed by PT Angkasa Pura 1 (Persero). In addition to Juanda, Supadio International Airport in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, was in second place with 90.2%, and Lombok International Airport was in fifth place with an on-time performance of 88%.
“On-time performance is some of the necessary indicators in the worldwide aviation industry. This international recognition is achieved with the support of all stakeholders reminiscent of airlines, AirNav Indonesia, Indonesian Navy, ground handling service provider and passengers.
“We will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure safe and effective operational activities for passengers during their stay at airports,” Faik Fahmi, director of PT Angkasa Pura 1 (Persero), said in a press release obtained by The Jakarta Post.
In 2016, Juanda Airport was also recognized as essentially the most punctual airport on this planet.
In the primary quarter of 2018, Juanda International Airport served 4.9 million passengers, up from 4.6 million passengers in 2017.
