How long are you able to live without money? This study reveals the reply

Indonesians feel more confident about living without money for twenty-four hours than Singaporeans, based on Visa’s Consumer Payment Attitudes Study.

The survey included 4,000 respondents from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam aged 18 and over with an income of greater than $215.

According to a survey conducted in July 2017, 76% of Indonesians said they might survive without money for twenty-four hours.

This figure is higher than every other Southeast Asian country within the study, with Singapore’s 68% and Myanmar’s 45% being the bottom.

Riko Abdurrahman, director of PT Visa Worldwide Indonesia, said on Wednesday Between that the study showed that Indonesia is ready to change into a digital society. He added that the usage of electronic payments in Indonesians’ every day lives is increasing.

Eight out of 10 Indonesian respondents said they shop online at the least once a month.

Online shopping is preferred because buyers can do it at home, payment systems have gotten safer and discounts are quite a few.

The study showed that almost all digital payments were made via smartphones at 85%.

It also found that Indonesians spend a median of 6.4 hours a day on smartphones, including three hours on social media.
