Have you ever applied for a job and been frustrated by how long it took a possible employer to contact you?
It seems that job seekers in Singapore are most irritated by slow feedback (47%) when applying for a job, followed by poor communication (44%) and delays in employer decision-making (44%). .
These conclusions emerge from a survey conducted by global recruitment company Robert Half between December 2017 and January this yr amongst 500 job seekers in Singapore.
Companies might not be aware of this, but the implications could be far-reaching – 47 percent of job seekers say they might not recommend such corporations as a possible employer.
Moreover, almost half (49%) are even willing to withdraw their application in the event that they don’t receive a timely response concerning the application status.
It could also be a scary thought, but roughly 52 percent of job seekers say they typically don’t receive feedback from potential employers about their interview performance, and 61 percent don’t know why they have not been offered a job.
Job seekers in Singapore aren’t putting all their eggs in a single basket either, with about 42 percent of them applying for 10 or more positions at a time.
The study found that just about eight in 10 job seekers recurrently receive multiple job offers during their job search, with 36 percent “often” or “all the time” receiving multiple offer.
Robert Half Singapore managing director Matthieu Imbert-Bouchard said: “Singapore companies would benefit from balancing their recruitment process with the expectations and frustrations of job seekers, while streamlining the application and interview process.
“This will help them ensure that delays and other frustrations do not cost them top candidates.”
