12. Vasco da Gama Bridge, Portugal
The Vasco da Gama Bridge, which crosses the Tagus River in Portugal, is the twelfth longest road bridge on the earth. The cable-stayed bridge has a complete length of 17 km and was built from 1995 to March 1998.
700,000 m3 of concrete and 100,000 tons of steel reinforcement were used to construct the bridge.
11. October 6 Bridge, Egypt
The 18.705 km long October 6 Bridge is the longest bridge in Egypt and the eleventh longest road bridge on the earth. It consists of a fundamental bridge and a causeway with 23 entry and exit ramps. The width of the bridge varies from 18 m to 35 m.
The bridge crosses the Nile twice and stretches from the Agricultural Museum in Dokki to the highway within the town of Nasr. It was in-built nine stages from 1969 to 2010 and consists of a fundamental bridge, elevated roads and transport hubs. The pier columns reach a height of as much as 22 m and are placed on foundations manufactured from prefabricated piles.
10. Jintang Bridge, China
The Jintang Cable-stayed Bridge connecting Jintang Island and Ningbo City is 21.029 km long, making it the tenth longest road bridge on the earth. As many as 18,415 km of the bridge section is situated by the ocean.
The bridge has 4 express lanes and is designed for speeds of as much as 100 km/h. It was put into operation in 2009 together with the Xihoumen Bridge.
9. Tunnel under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, USA
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, over which U.S. Highway 13 runs, is the one direct connection between Virginia’s Eastern Shore and southern Hampton Roads, Virginia. The bridge-tunnel has 4 lanes and a shore-to-shore length of 28.32 km, making it the ninth longest road bridge on the earth.
The total length of the bridge is 37,015 km and consists of low-level flyovers, tunnels, bridges, causeways, artificial islands and access roads. The northbound section opened in April 1964 and the southbound section in 1999. Up to 2,598 concrete piles were laid on the northbound bridge and as much as 2,591 concrete piles were laid on the southbound bridge.
8. Atchafalaya Basin Bridge and Louisiana Airborne Memorial Bridge, USA
The Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, also often called the Louisiana Airborne Memorial Bridge, carries Interstate 10 over the Atchafalaya Basin.
It consists of parallel bridges with a length of 28.96 km and is the eighth longest road bridge on the earth. It opened in 1973. In 1989, it was given the choice name Louisiana Airborne Memorial Bridge.
7. Donghai Bridge, China
The 32.5 km long Donghai Bridge, which connects Shanghai with the coastal deep-water port of Yangshan in China, is the seventh-longest road bridge on the earth.
The bridge is a component of the 42.31 km long Shanghai-Luchaogang Expressway (Hulu Expressway) and consists of six expressway lanes. Traffic on the bridge was allowed in December 2005.
6. Runyang Bridge, China
The Runyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge, consisting of a northern cable-stayed bridge and a southern suspension bridge, spans the Yangtze River, connecting the cities of Yangzhou and Zhenjiang.
With a complete length of 35.66 km, the bridge is the sixth longest road bridge on the earth and the fifth longest suspension bridge.

S-shaped cable-stayed bridge connecting Cixi County in Ningbo within the south with Jiaxing within the north. The 36 km long bridge is the fifth longest road bridge on the earth and was at the moment the longest bridge built over ocean waters.
The bridge spanning Hangzhou Bay shortens the gap between Shanghai and Ningbo by 120 km.
4. Manchac Swamp Bridge, USA
The Manchac Swamp Bridge, also often called the I-55 Manchac Swamp Crossing, spans Interstate 55 covering roughly one-third of I-55 in Louisiana.
The bridge spans the Manchac Marshes for 36.69 km and is the fourth longest road bridge on the earth. The bridge is owned by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

1. Bang Na Expressway and Burapha Withi Expressway, Thailand
The Bang Na to Bangpakong Expressway, which runs through Bangkok, is the longest road bridge on the earth. The box bridge is 55 km long and opened in February 2000 at a price of $1 billion. The toll bridge runs over National Road No. 34 (Bang Na-Bang Pakong Highway) at a height of 30 m. A small a part of the bridge crosses the Bang Pakong River.
The bridge consists of six lanes with a complete area of 1.9 million square meters. It is owned by the Expressways and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (EXAT) and was built by a three way partnership of Bilfinger + Berger and Ch. Karnchang (BBCD). About 1.8 million cubic meters of concrete were used for construction.
The bridge design was carried out by J. Muller International and Asian Engineering Consultants (AEC). SEA-Consult, in cooperation with Louis Berger International, provided technical consulting services for the project.
