The countries with probably the most Facebook users are…

Thailand is in the highest 10 on the earth for social media use, with video becoming increasingly popular and entertainment being probably the most talked about topic on social media, reports the Bangkok Post.

Facebook’s policy change to shrink its reach will see brands and ad spend grow 27 percent in 2018, while Instagram and Twitter will gain more influence for brands, said Pnern Asavavipas, CEO of Onebit Matter Co.

“In 2017, there were 49 million Facebook users in Thailand, up just 4 percent year-on-year and the lowest level ever,” Pnern said on the 2018 Thoth Zocial OBVOC in Thai Awards.

“Instagram had 136.6 million users, up 24 percent, and Twitter had 12 million users, up 33 percent,” he said.

Thailand ranks eighth by way of Facebook users, with India, the United States and Indonesia taking on the highest three.

During the period under review, 130 million Brazilian users registered on the social networking site. India took first place with 250 million users, ahead of the second-placed United States with 230 million Facebook users.

Facebook is the preferred social network on the earth, with a worldwide usage penetration of twenty-two.9%.

The peak Facebook usage time in Thailand is 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Bangkok has 24 million Facebook users, followed by Chiang Mai and Chon Buri.

Phern added that the corporate also predicts that Facebook’s algorithm change will reduce reach, stating that brands must spend 27% more to attain the identical level of engagement on every post in 2018.

“Statistics show that when brands increase post frequency by 52%, engagement only increases by 12%, so engagement per post dropped by 27%,” Pnern said.

“Brands and advertisers must spend more or work harder to capture audiences’ attention.”

Onebit Matter also found that the three most typical content formats by way of engagement were videos (2,556 interactions per post), photos (1,273) and links (1,199).
