In the World Economic Forum’s 2018 Global Competitiveness Index 4.0, within the Airport Connectivity section, 140 countries are ranked on the idea of airport connectivity. The index relies on the IATA Airport Connectivity Index, which measures a rustic’s degree of integration into the worldwide air transport network.
It relies on the number of accessible seats offered on flights departing from a given country. For each airport, the variety of seats available to every destination is weighted by the dimensions of the destination airport (when it comes to the variety of passengers served). The weighted totals are then added for all destinations after which for all airports within the country to provide a rating.
While the United States continues to top the list, Asia-Pacific countries clearly dominate, placing 6 countries on the planet’s top 10. These are China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia. The remaining 3 are from Europe; Great Britain (No. 6), Germany (No. 7) and Spain (No. 8).
