Google Philippines celebrates the 119th Philippine Independence Day with Filipinos by sharing a special one-day doodle on its homepage.
“In honor of Philippine Independence Day, today’s Doodle is a colorful celebration of both the Philippine flag and the country’s unique island landscapes.” that is what it says on the Google Doodle page.
The country is made up of over 7,000 islands, so there isn’t any shortage of opportunities to look at the sunrise over the water. It depicts Filipinos gathered around a flag while the sun rises over the water, symbolizing Filipinos’ optimism within the face of adversity.
“Doodle” is the name used for decorative changes to the Google logo to have a good time holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous people.
The doodle was created by Dan Matutina, a Filipino designer and illustrator based in Manila whose work has appeared in various international titles reminiscent of The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, Wallpaper*, Wired, in addition to global brands reminiscent of Uniqlo, Pinterest, Samsung , Coca-Cola.
Sharing his doodle on his social media accounts, the illustrator said, “I had the honour of making this 12 months’s Philippine Independence Day doodle for Google.
“Last year, Google celebrated our Independence Day by sharing a doodle of “sophisticated citizens celebrating in a jeepney: the iconic Filipino travel vehicle.”
Google first celebrated Philippine Independence Day in 2009 by incorporating the colours of the Philippine flag into the Google logo.
