Mozilla has been quite busy recently. Last month it updated its major browser, Firefox, with a much-needed, modern UI overhaul, and over the summer it launched a wholly latest browser, Firefox Focus. It’s much simpler and faster than the usual Firefox app, and offers much greater privacy protection, with no bookmarks or automatic blocking of ads and trackers. There can be a version for Germany called Klar.
The company also doesn’t intend to take a break any time soon, and a brand new, unreleased application has appeared within the Play Store. Firefox Rocket appears to be just like Focus, except that it’s designed specifically for Indonesia and as a substitute of offering privacy, the important thing USPs are that it’s lightweight and fast, ideal for a region where mobile data and Wi-Fi don’t are so low-cost or easy to get by.
Rocket won’t take up much space in your device, which is a plus for individuals with limited space on budget phones. Turbo Mode blocks ads and trackers by default, saving you invaluable data. You may even ask it to not routinely download images to save lots of much more. The option to save lots of an internet page for offline reading is just two taps away.
Rocket doesn’t have a tabbed interface to stop tab lovers from accumulating tons of pages, and there’s an option to save lots of cache and downloaded files to an SD card if you could have the choice. The app is currently an unreleased beta, so should you determine to try it out, watch out as it could be unstable. You also must be in Indonesia, because it is not available anywhere else. It would appear reasonable to eventually release it in other Asian countries, but who knows what Mozilla has planned at this early stage.
If you wish to read more about it, there’s a support page on Mozilla’s US site, in addition to a GitHub project for this app, so you may root it there should you want. I imagine it won’t be too long before it hits APKMirror, so keep a watch out for it.
Update: You can find the APK file for manual sideloading Here.
