Indonesia ranked first in Southeast Asia for having essentially the most games available on the PC gaming platform, Steam. This accolade comes from respected Steam curator VirtualSEA, known for reviewing independent (indie) games from Southeast Asia.
According to VirtualSEA data shared via @VirtualSEAsia on This figure dwarfs indie game production from other countries within the region, with Thailand and Singapore coming in second and third with roughly 158 and 134 games on Steam, respectively.
The increase within the variety of matches from Thailand is a major achievement as Singapore was previously in second place. Although Thailand currently boasts more games than Singapore, Indonesia stays the leading provider.
Statistics compiled by KompasTekno of X.com on January 10, 2024 show the total list of Southeast Asian countries that ship essentially the most games to the Steam platform:
- Indonesia: 256 matches
- Thailand: 158 games
- Singapore: 134 matches
- Philippines: 92 matches
- Malaysia: 80 matches
- Vietnam: 40 games
- Brunei: 7 matches
- Myanmar: 5 matches
Please note that these numbers include all games registered within the Steam database, including released, canceled or delayed titles, early access games, and people scheduled for future releases. Although VirtualSEA has not ranked Indonesia against countries outside Southeast Asia, the info flawlessly depicts Indonesia’s thriving gaming industry.
