GCash, the leading Philippine financial super app, showcased its enhanced international services on the esteemed Singapore Fintech Festival 2023. CEO Martha Sazon and Mynt President Ernest Cu took to the stage to showcase the app’s newest feature, allowing users to access foreign programs in real-time exchange rates at chosen countries similar to Singapore, Japan and the USA.
Sazon emphasized that the brand new GCash feature provides Filipino travelers and overseas residents with financial parity by allowing them to make use of the app for seamless payments at stores that accept Alipay+ or card transactions. This initiative expands GCash’s global presence, facilitated by its partnership with Alipay+, which enables cashless transactions in 17 countries and facilitates registration for international users in six countries.
Through strategic partnerships just like the one with Visa, GCash facilitates cashless transactions in 200 countries at over 80 million points of sale. The introduction of the GCash card, accessible via the app, further enhances the benefit of transactions by allowing users to pay by scanning a QR code or generating the code at Alipay+ enabled locations.
In addition to its international achievements, GCash is strengthening its services for corporate clients, recognizing the importance of the business-to-business landscape. Sazon stressed the necessity to handle existing friction points on this sphere for more practical engagement.
In addition to offering digital financial tools for businesses, GCash provides marketing solutions to partner corporations of all scales, leveraging the app’s extensive user base. It focuses on helping Nano, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NMSMEs) of their digital transformation by delivering revolutionary business solutions.
Sazon’s participation in a panel discussion on the Singapore Fintech Festival delved into the narrative titled “Building Unicorns: An ASEAN Success Story.” They joined Mynt’s Cu chairman and Globe Group chairman and CEO for insights on industry developments, moderated by Ryan Huang of Singapore’s MONEY FM 89.3.
As the one dual unicorn within the Philippines, valued at over $2 billion, GCash has expanded beyond its initial remittance services to supply a spectrum of economic solutions spanning fair lending, investments, insurance and lifestyle services.
The Singapore FinTech Festival is a key global industry gathering, attracting thought leaders and participants from all over the world.
