A lot of countries from around the globe have confirmed their presence on the ASEAN Summit, which might be held in Jakarta from September 5 to 7, 2023. Some of those leaders are arriving in Indonesia from Sunday (September 3) to today (September 9, 2023). 4).
The ASEAN Summit will bring together leaders from 22 countries, including 11 ASEAN member states, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and East Timor.
In addition to Member States, nine partner countries were also invited to take part in the Summit. These partner countries include the Republic of Korea, India, Japan, China, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Russia and the United States (US).
The summit will even feature two other invited countries, namely Bangladesh, which chairs the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), and the Cook Islands, which chairs the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF).
In addition, Indonesia plans to ask a lot of international organizations under the United Nations (UN), akin to the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Economic Forum, IORA and PIF.
Several of the invited countries have already arrived in Jakarta. One of them is the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, Mark Brown, who was one among the primary to reach at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Sunday (September 3) at 19:25 WIB.
East Timorese Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao also arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport this morning (April 9) at 7:50 WIB. Xanana’s arrival was welcomed by Banten Governor Al Muktabar and the Ministerial Staff of Talent Management Experts on the Ministry of Research and Technology, Tatang Muttaqin.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also arrived in Indonesia around 10:35 a.m. (9/4). He was welcomed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, and the Ambassador of Vietnam to Indonesia, Ta Van Thong.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport today (9/4) around 11:30 am. He was accompanied by his wife Pich Chanmony.
Then, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim then arrived on an Airbus A320 with a Malaysian logo.
Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah also landed at Soekarno Hatta airport. Sultan Bolkiah was seen landing on a wide-body Boeing 747.
In addition, the President of Bangladesh, Mohammad Shahabuddin, flew to Jakarta on a wide-body Boeing 787 plane with the Bangladesh Airlines logo.
Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore, has confirmed his participation within the ASEAN Summit in 2023. He arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at noon today (9/4).
Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and his wife Louise Marcos arrived in Jakarta after 6 p.m. local time (April 9).
