To support the implementation and success of the forty third ASEAN Summit, which shall be held on September 5-7, 2023 in Jakarta, the Immigration Office Class I Special Immigration Checkpoint at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is currently preparing a series of integrated special immigration crossing facilities.
Muhammad Tito Andrianto, who serves because the Head of the Immigration Office of the Soekarno-Hatta Class I Special Immigration Checkpoint, explained that these special facilities are being prepared to make sure a smooth inspection process for the ASEAN Summit delegates resulting from the increased passenger traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
“A number of facilities have been made available to welcome guests and delegates to the 43rd ASEAN Summit. Firstly, facilities have been provided to manage the border control of a mobile unit, especially for delegations at the level of heads of state/ministers,” he stated on Tuesday (29/08).
These immigration facilities have been placed in Terminal 3 and Terminal I for Commercial Personnel (CIP) at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. According to his statement, the presence of those facilities is crucial for the efficient control of delegates, especially within the face of the big variety of passengers repeatedly using the airport’s services.
He emphasized that as a significant and busy gateway to Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta Immigration has previous experience in providing dedicated facilities for each international event. He further stated that within the context of the forty third ASEAN Summit, his team has prepared immigration services, which were previously successfully implemented throughout the 2022 G-20 Summit.
Under the slogan “ASEAN Matters: Epicenter of Growth”, Indonesia, as host of the 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship, wishes to emphasise that ASEAN’s role is just not limited to the regional scale, but additionally has a big global impact.
It is planned that Indonesian President Joko Widodo will open and lead 12 different meetings. These events include the forty third Plenary Summit and Closed Sessions (Retreat), the twenty sixth ASEAN-China Summit, the twenty fourth ASEAN-South Korea Summit, the twenty sixth ASEAN-Japan Summit and the eleventh ASEAN-United States Summit.
In addition, the event also includes meetings reminiscent of the ASEAN-Canada Summit, the twenty sixth ASEAN Plus Three Summit, the twentieth ASEAN-India Summit, the third ASEAN-Australia Summit, the 18th East Asia Summit (EAS) on East Asia Cooperation, and thirteenth ASEAN-United Nations (UN) Summit.
