For the 23.6km southern extension of Bangkok’s Purple Line metro, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) of Thailand has signed three contracts for project management and construction supervision.
Construction began in June 2022 and 6 construction contractors have already been issued notices to proceed.
The extension, which can open in 2027 and can serve 17 underground and above-ground stops, stretches from Tao Poon to Rat Burana. The project will cost 2.6 billion baht ($75.4 million).
According to the MRTA, “not one of the proposals met the necessities,” making it unattainable to rent a project implementation consultant for the Purple Line expansion. In the case of this contract, a brand new procurement procedure can be carried out.
According to the MRTA, which agrees with the six construction contractors who got notice of termination on April 25, project management and construction supervision consultants are ready to begin work immediately.
In March, six construction contracts for the Purple Line Extension were awarded with a complete value of 82 billion baht.
