At the twenty ninth World Travel Awards held in Muscat, Oman on November 11, the Philippines was recognized because the world’s leading beach destination for 2022. This is the primary time a nation has won the highest spot.
The Philippines outperformed other competitors akin to the Turks and Caicos Islands, Mexico, Thailand, Jamaica, Greece, Santa Monica, Mexico, Maui, the Maldives and Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands.
The tropical nation also won the world’s top diving destination for the fourth 12 months in a row, beating out French Polynesia, the Maldives, the Azores, Belize, Fiji, the Galapagos Islands and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

The Philippines once more won the titles of Asia’s Leading Beach Destination and Asia’s Leading Diving Destination for 2022, in addition to winning the titles of best on the earth.
Three more Filipino firms were also honored with World Travel Awards this 12 months: Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila was recognized because the world’s leading serviced apartments, Amanpulo was recognized because the world’s leading dive resort, and City of Dreams Manila was recognized because the world’s leading casino resort. Additionally, Intramuros regained the title of Best Tourist Attraction in Asia.

Siargao and Cebu were nominated for the “World’s Leading Island Destination 2022” and “Leading Wedding Destination in Asia 2022” respectively, but those titles went to Madeira and Bali in Indonesia.
On their website, the World Travel Awards state that they “recognize, have a good time and have a good time achievements across all necessary sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.”
The company selects from nominations from Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, North America, Oceania and South America. The brand is “known world wide because the industry’s highest hallmark of excellence.”
The Maldives was also nominated in each categories, but as announced on November 11, the country won over 18 beaches and 10 diving spots.
According to Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, “Being recognized in the World’s Leading Beach and Diving Destination category at the 2022 World Travel Awards is a global victory for the Philippines that demonstrates our country’s unparalleled beauty and the unique kindness of the Filipino people.”
Philippines and native brands also took top spots in Asia, including Intramuros as Asia’s leading tourist attraction in 2022.
