After the Gojek-Tokopedia merger: the best valued start-ups on this planet

Indonesian tech unicorns Gojek and Tokopedia announced on Monday the completion of their merger with the creation of a brand new entity called GoTo Group, which is currently Indonesia’s highest-valued startup, valued at $17 billion.

The merger would enable Indonesia’s presence among the many world’s top 20 unicorns, consisting mainly of Chinese and US corporations, in addition to one Swedish (Klarna), one Brazilian (Nubank), one Indian (One97 Communications), one British (Checkout .com) and one Australian enterprise (Canva).

According to the CB Insights Unicorn List: Chinese artificial intelligence company Bytedance is essentially the most valued start-up – currently a non-public, dynamically developing company – on this planet. TikTok’s parent company is price $140 billion. Bytedance operates Toutiao content platform in China, which uses machine learning to customize the news feed for every viewer based on traditional and latest media sources.

According to CB Insights, as of April 2021, there have been over 650 unicorn startups (corporations valued a minimum of $1 billion) globally, with a complete value of $2.2 trillion.
