Foxconn is about to construct a brand new factory to provide tablets and computers in Vietnam, which might be a part of Apple’s plan to expand iPad and MacBook production lines outside China.
The government said the plant, to be positioned within the northern province of Bac Giang, will produce eight million units of products a 12 months, mainly notebooks and tablets. Since Foxconn is Apple’s primary assembly partner, it’s possible a few of that production can be for iPads and MacBooks.
In November it was claimed that Apple asked Foxconn transfer a part of the production of iPads and MacBooks from China to Vietnam with the intention to diversify production. There was a trade war between the US and China pressure point on the corporate, forcing it to seek out ways to reduce the impact of intercontinental political maneuvers.
The plant can be developed by Fukang Technology, reports Reuters subsidiary established by Foxconn for the project. It will not be known when construction of the factory can be accomplished or when it is going to be ready to start out production, but it is going to likely be before the tip of 2021.
This is not going to be Foxconn’s first entry into Vietnamese production, because it has invested $1.5 billion within the country thus far. The government expects Foxconn to extend its investment by $700 million in 2021 alone, which incorporates hiring 10,000 local employees.
Foxconn can also be said to be considering one other potential $1.3 billion investment in Thanh Hoa Province.
