Malaysian KK Super Mart outlet attacked with Molotov cocktail after uproar spread over ‘Allah’s sock’.

KK Super Mart founder and chairman Chai Kee Kan and his wife Loh Siew Mui, the corporate’s director, were charged on Tuesday with hurting religious sentiments together with three supplier representatives, state news agency Bernama reported. They all pleaded not guilty.

Just before dawn on Saturday, a KK Super Mart outlet within the Kuantan district of eastern Pahang state was hit by a Molotov cocktail, Kuantan police chief Wan Mohamad Zahari Wan Busu said by phone.

Bernama reported that this was the second such attack after a petroleum bomb was thrown at one other KK Super Mart store in Perak state on Tuesday.

Police haven’t yet identified a suspect after Saturday’s attack, but were combing the realm and checking CCTV footage for evidence, Wan Mohamad Zahari said.

He said police believed the attack was linked to the sale of socks, “but we’re still investigating.”

According to media reports, some items in store windows caught fire consequently of the attack, but the fireplace was quickly extinguished by store employees.

KK Super Mart, the country’s second-largest minimarket chain, apologized for the socks, saying it took the matter seriously and took immediate motion to stop selling them.

She also sued the sock supplier, alleging sabotage and damage to the brand’s fame.
