Thailand will produce and provide the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to the ASEAN market

Thailand has agreed to supply and provide AstraZeneca Plc’s experimental Covid-19 vaccine to the dominion and other countries within the region, the British and Thai governments said on Monday.

The statement from the British Embassy in Bangkok didn’t specify what number of doses of the AZD1222 vaccine candidate could be distributed in Thailand. It also didn’t disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

In a separate statement, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health said AstraZeneca was providing the potential vaccine developed by Oxford University scientists in the course of the pandemic at no profit and would cooperate with Siam Bioscience to establish production facilities.

“Following the expected technology transfer from AstraZeneca and subject to approval from the Thai regulatory authority FDA, the company aims to make the first batch of vaccines available in the middle of next year,” said Siam Bioscience CEO Satitpong Sukvimol.

AstraZeneca has signed several agreements with corporations and governments all over the world to provide greater than three billion doses of the vaccine as the primary results of a late-stage clinical trial approach.
