Arianespace, a French service provider, successfully launched two satellites, Intelsat 39/Myanmar Sat 2 and EDRS-C, from the Guyana Space Center, a European spaceport in French Guiana, a French territory in South America.
The Intelsat 39 steerable beams, manufactured at Maxar Technologies, will provide additional flexibility by allowing customers to quickly reposition services in response to changing application or geographic requirements, the corporate said in an announcement.
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) will receive C-band and Ku-band services from the satellite within the fourth quarter of 2019, helping to fulfill its goal of providing 95% of the population with broadband access by 2022, said Terry Bleakley, vp regional Intelsat for the Asia-Pacific region.
By incorporating satellite services into Myanmar’s mobile networks, MOTC will give you the option to dramatically increase network capability, speed and reliability because it expands to distant areas. Moreover, the satellite will give you the option to fulfill e-governance requirements and supply key e-banking services and data throughout Myanmar, Bleakley added.
In an interview with state media, U Win Aung, chief engineer of the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, said that within the event of a natural disaster, communication could be quickly established during which relevant information could be shared, which dramatically increases the chance and effectiveness of rescue operations.
Since 2017, a 13-member committee chaired by Vice President U Myint Stego for the Establishment of the Satellite System has been conducting discussions on the implementation of the satellite system. The country pays a complete of $155.7 million for Burma Sat 2.
Myanmar currently leases satellite channels from the US, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia for greater than $10 million a 12 months.
Government ministries and personal corporations will give you the option to make use of Myanmar Sat 2 solutions from October 2019.
