A Malaysian woman died after a Honda airbag burst in a minor automobile accident

A Malaysian woman died when the airbag in her Honda City burst following a minor collision, a security official said on Monday.

Sunday’s incident comes days after Honda Malaysia announced an extra recall of greater than 145,000 vehicles to exchange defective front passenger airbag inflators.

Fire and rescue official Rosdi Hainan said the steering wheel airbag had burst when he arrived on the scene of the accident and the victim was bleeding from the chest.

Rosdi said the lady died a short while later.

Honda representatives couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

There has been a large recall of tens of millions of vehicles all over the world as a result of faulty inflators and propulsion devices that may malfunction within the event of a crash, ejecting metal fragments that may injure or kill.

Eleven people were killed and greater than 100 injured all over the world when airbag inflators manufactured by Takata exploded.

Last November, a 43-year-old pregnant Malaysian housewife died after a collision caused her Honda’s airbag to deploy. Honda also confirmed two other deaths related to airbag problems that occurred in April and May this 12 months.
