G3 Global Bhd has entered right into a strategic partnership with two Chinese firms to ascertain the primary artificial intelligence (AI) park in Malaysia.
The collaboration between G3 Global and China’s SenseTime Group and the China Harbor Engineering Company (CHEC) was agreed during Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s visit to SenseTime’s Beijing office on Saturday (April 27, 2019).
“The park will probably be a platform for the event of AI solutions within the areas of computer vision, speech recognition, natural language and humanoids/robotics.
“Ultimately, the park will be a regional epicenter for technology and talent development, data management, research and development, and commercial ecosystem,” SenseTime said in an announcement issued after the prime minister’s visit to Beijing today.
The statement didn’t provide further details concerning the park.
Under this collaboration, G3 Global will, amongst other things, be involved in facilitating and coordinating the creation of a synthetic intelligence park, while SenseTime will construct supercomputing and artificial intelligence platforms for research and cloud services.
Meanwhile, CHEC will provide its expertise in infrastructure engineering and construction services.
SenseTime founder Professor Xiao’ou Tang said the corporate looks forward to working with the Malaysian government, academia and business sector to bring its technological knowledge and experience to Malaysia.
G3 Global Executive Chairman Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad said that with the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Park, Malaysia will probably be one step closer to achieving its vision of being among the many top 30 within the Global Innovation Index by 2025.
Earlier, Mahathir and his delegation, which included several ministers, toured the SenseTime Artificial Intelligence Demonstration Area, where they were capable of learn first-hand concerning the latest artificial intelligence technologies and its application in solutions related to protected cities, autonomous driving technology, distant sensing and other technologies .
Mahathir is in Beijing on a five-day working visit for the second Belt and Road Forum on International Cooperation, which starts on Saturday.
