Safest airports in Southeast Asia in 2020 for Covid-19 health and safety measures

While tourism associations are calling on governments to revive global connectivity and reopen borders, they understand that safety is king and persons are only willing to forgo travel when stakeholders prioritize travelers’ health.

While there have been safety concerns as people leave their homes, the perception of indoor public spaces has modified dramatically, and airports are not any exception. Airports play a key role in helping passengers ease into the brand new normal. They are the primary line of defense, ensuring a secure and fewer anxious journey.

In conjunction with the announcement of the safest airlines, the Safe Travel Barometer has published the Safe Travel Score for airports all over the world. The result’s an industry-first rankings initiative based on an independent audit of greater than 200 airports and 20 traveler health and safety measures announced by airports.

With a rating of 4.7 out of 5, Singapore’s Changi Airport was rated the safest out of over 200 airports rated by the Safe Travel Barometer. The secure travel rating is an indicator of the tourism industry’s readiness to introduce the “recent normal”.

Changi is closely followed by Frankfurt Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, each with a travel safety tie of 4.6 out of 5. Abu Dhabi International Airport within the United Arab Emirates and International Airport in Dubai they’re tied at 4.5. Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport was also among the many top 10 on this planet.

In Southeast Asia, Chiang Mai Airport stays just behind Changi Airport with a rating of 4.2 points, followed by KLIA Airport (Kualu Lumpur), Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Jakarta) and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Bali).
As Virendra Jain, co-founder and CEO of Safe Travel, states: “Overnight, hundreds of airports around the world had to turn their operational processes upside down; research, assess and implement a variety of initiatives to ensure the safety and comfort of travelers and crew, while minimizing the risk of transmission of Covid-19.”
