The stage has been set for the 2019 Kuala Lumpur Summit (KL Summit), where the situation of the ummah will take center stage and participants will seek to chart a way forward for the Muslim world.
All eyes will probably be on events unfolding on the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, site of the four-day meeting that ends on Saturday.
It will probably be led by Prime Minister and summit chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, known for his outspoken views on issues affecting the Muslim world, Times of latest straits reported.
A press release from the summit organizers said it could be joined by Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
Erdogan and Rouhani are already on the town at the highest.
Indonesia will probably be represented by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, and Uzbekistan by President’s State Advisor Rustam Kasimov.
In the presence of 450 delegates from 56 countries within the Muslim world, issues similar to Islamophobia, the detention of Muslims and the mass migration of Muslims in consequence of civil wars are expected to be highlighted.
“We imagine we must overcome Islamophobia. We must discover a approach to address our shortcomings and our dependence on non-Muslims who take refuge from the enemies of Islam,” he said in his opening speech on the opening dinner of the Summit Here.

“We hope that at the tip of the summit we’ll have the ability to verify some concrete initiatives that is usually a catalyst for larger things,” added Dr Mahathir, who’s the chairman of the summit, as quoted by Star on the Internet.
“We won’t ever claim to be perfect Muslims or a model of a superb Muslim nation, but we are able to attest that we have now been in a position to live with our non-Muslim residents in peace and harmony for many years, a practice that has existed since our independence,” he said.
Participants of the summit titled “The Role of Development in Achieving National Sovereignty” include thinkers, intellectuals, politicians and community leaders.
The discussions will concentrate on seven pillars, namely national development and sovereignty; honesty and good management; culture and identity; justice and freedom; peace, security and defense; trade and investment; and Internet technology and management.
