10 fastest growing travel destinations in 2019. Myanmar tops the list

According to the UN World Tourism Organization, in 2019, Myanmar recorded the best growth in tourist arrivals among the many 10 fastest-growing travel destinations on the earth.

Based on tourist arrival growth rates, Myanmar topped the rankings with a 40.2% year-on-year growth in 2019, followed by Puerto Rico (31.2%) and Iran (27.9%). ).

The Burmese government has introduced latest regulations to facilitate tourists’ access to the country. Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau and a few Southeast Asian countries have achieved visa-free travel.

Nationals from India, mainland China and other countries (Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Russia, Spain and Switzerland) received visas on arrival.

Citizens of over 100 countries are eligible for e-visas to Myanmar (evisa.moip.gov.mm/) and may receive an approval letter inside three days.

Travel from China has been suspended as a result of suspension of tour package sales in China and cancellation of air services to counter the coronavirus outbreak in Asia.

To maintain the expansion momentum of tourist arrivals and recuperate business interrupted by the virus crisis, Myanmar Tourism Marketing will launch the “Green Season” campaign (from May to the top of September) with the support of hotels, airlines and tour operators.
