China will encourage its enterprises to participate deeply in Laos’ economic development based on market principles, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Wednesday in Boao, Hainan province.
Li made the comments during a gathering with Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, who’s attending the annual Boao Forum for Asia conference.
China and Laos have particularly close relations which have shown good development dynamics and have led to fruitful pragmatic cooperation, Li said.
Noting that this 12 months marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Cooperation between the 2 countries, Li said China is willing to cooperate with Laos to perform closer high-level exchanges, strengthen the exchange of state governance experiences and deal with to construct a community with a typical way forward for strategic importance between the 2 countries.
Li said China is willing to raised link the Belt and Road Initiative with Laos’ development strategies, speed up the completion of cooperation documents on the China-Laos Economic Corridor, and make sure the timely completion of the China-Laos railway line with good quality.
Thongloun said that Laos and China are a community with a typical future, sharing goods and misfortunes. He said Bounnhang Vorachith, secretary general of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and president of Laos, will visit China next month and attend the second Belt and Road Forum on International Cooperation.
The Lao side is willing to push forward the development of the Laos-China economic corridor and railway to make sure advantages for either side, he said.
