Malaysian authorities said a person who tried to shoot his wife at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sunday, leaving her personal bodyguard in a critical condition.
Police investigated a rare shooting related to a domestic dispute and concluded it was not related to terrorism.
Police said the gunman, who was believed to be targeting his wife within the arrivals hall, punched her security guard after which fled the scene.

“The suspect fired two shots before hitting a local man who was a security guard, resulting in the victim suffering abdominal injuries,” Selangor State Police Chief Hussein Omar Khan said in a press release.
Director of the Criminal Investigation Department Shuhaily Zain added: “The man actually intended to shoot his wife.”
The officers were on the lookout for a 38-year-old Malaysian who had previously been arrested for threatening his wife.

According to Shuhaily, the girl hired security guards last 12 months in response to the threats.
According to police, the girl, who runs a travel agency, was on the airport to receive Muslim pilgrims getting back from Mecca.
Gun violence is rare in Malaysia, which has strict gun control laws and illegal possession of firearms is punishable by as much as 40 years in prison.
