The predominant tourist attraction of the Philippines has once more been recognized by Conde Nast Traveler within the Readers’ Choice Awards 2019.
Boracay, which reopened to visitors in October 2018 after six months of rehabilitation, was voted the perfect island in Asia by readers of the travel magazine, ABS CBN reported.
The list also included local destinations in Cebu and Visayas, which took second place, and Palawan, which placed fourth.
Rounding out the highest five were Penang in Malaysia (third) and Bali in Indonesia.
“This tiny island (less than four square miles) in the western Philippines is as close to a tropical idyll as you’ll find in Southeast Asia, with rolling coastlines and Instagram-worthy sunsets,” said Conde Nast Traveler Boracay in article published on October 7.
“The aptly named White Beach is Boracay’s main attraction, with powdery white sand and shallow azure waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling.”
Meanwhile, Cebu has been described as “positioned in the middle of the Philippines, Cebu attracts nearly 2 million tourists annually for its pristine beaches and diving off the island’s northern coast,” reads the article, quoted by Cebu Sun Star.
“Spanish and Roman Catholic influences permeate Cebu City; In the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño there may be a small statue of Christ donated by Ferdinand Magellan,” he added.
A record 600,000 voters participated in Conde Nast Traveler’s latest Readers’ Choice awards survey. It’s 32II rating, which supplies an outline of the most well-liked directions at a given moment.
The travel magazine selected to list the perfect islands by region – Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, Caribbean and the Atlantic, Europe, North America, Africa and the Indian Ocean – moderately than presenting a single list.
