Indonesian President Joko Widodo has invited South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to the Asian Games in August, a South Korean government official told the JoongAng Ilbo.
The sports event shall be held within the Indonesian capital Jakarta and the Sumatran city of Palembang from August 18 to September 2.
If the 2 Korean leaders do participate within the Asian Games, they may meet for the third time after two summits in April and May, the JoongAng Ilbo said in its report on Wednesday (June 27).
A government official told the JoongAng Ilbo on Tuesday that President Joko met with the ambassadors of each Koreas to Indonesia at his presidential palace on April 30, three days after Moon and Kim’s first summit.
“As far as I understand, President Joko invited President Moon and North Korean leader Kim at the meeting to visit his country during the Asian Games,” the official said Times of the Strait on condition of anonymity.
According to officials accustomed to the matter, Mr. Moon is considering going to Indonesia for the Asian Games, the JoongAng Ilbo reported. It is just not known whether Kim will accept the invitation.

If Moon and Kim meet in the course of the Asian Games, it’ll be the primary inter-Korean summit held outside the Korean Peninsula.
Korean Times If the leaders determine to go to Indonesia and meet there, they may attend the opening or closing ceremonies of the games, with athletes from each Koreas marching together, it said.
Last week, the 2 Koreas agreed to enter the opening and shutting ceremonies together under a flag symbolizing a unified Korea. During the march, as a substitute of the national anthems of the North and South, the Korean folk song Arirang shall be played. The Koreans also decided to field joint teams in several events.
