On Monday (March 12), ST Engineering announced that a brand new smart bus stop is being tested outside Plaza Singapura, intended to enhance commuter waiting times.
Touted as a “world first”, the Airbitat Oasis smart bus stop tackles heat and air pollution issues, improving the bus stop environment.
It is supplied with cooling technology that pulls in heated air from the environment after which cools it to a temperature of just 24 degrees Celsius. It also has a built-in air purification system that filters out harmful airborne particles. Clean, cool air is then delivered on to passengers on the bus stop through overhead nozzles.
The air pumped out by the blowers is over 90 percent cleaner, but because it mixes with the encircling air, its content drops to about 50 percent, he added.
“It’s still significantly better than outside. You can actually smell the clean air, not the exhaust fumes of the bus,” said the pinnacle of Innosparks, Gareth Tang. Times of the Strait. Innosparks is an open laboratory of ST Engineering.

According to Asia News Channelother stop features include built-in sensors that may track commuters’ movements, computer systems that discover suspicious activity, and interactive panels that display real-time environmental information.
By leveraging technology and innovation in land transportation infrastructure, even “easy on a regular basis activities akin to waiting for a bus will be greatly improved,” Tang said.

The smart bus stop can be tested for 12 months and findings from the test can be shared with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and other government agencies.
“We are pleased to provide a platform for innovative ideas that can be tested to improve land transport… We are inviting more local businesses to test ideas that could make commuting more enjoyable,” said Yeo Teck, LTA Group Director for Public Transport Guan.
