Makeup is closely related to beauty and ladies as they often use makeup to boost their appearance. But did you already know that for girls on this country, makeup is rather more necessary than anything related to cosmetics?
North Korea is a rustic with all types of military and strict rules for its residents, including makeup for girls. One hundred and eighty degrees different from neighboring South Korea, a brand new center of the makeup trade, allowing its residents to freely apply makeup. North Korea prohibits a citizen from performing strict duties.
North Korea smuggles cosmetics as a part of a political and cultural protest. The North Korean dictatorship dictates how women needs to be officially present. Even the “beauty police” can be sure that all regulations are followed. Public disgrace and “testimony” before city authorities are punishment for disregarding the law. They still see makeup as a logo of capitalism, identical to red lipstick. North Korea has strictly banned its residents from wearing it since it symbolizes capitalism and an indication of insurrection.
Government versus makeup
CNN interviewed Nara Kang, a North Korean teenager who’s fleeing to South Korea. From what Nara said, it seems that she walked along alleys as an alternative of fundamental roads to avoid encounters with “Gyuchaldae”, the so-called North Korean fashion police. Nara added this as well

Beauty is freedom
Beauty and makeup are an expression of you – exactly what an authoritarian society doesn’t like. Beauty has a lot power. Cosmetics are practically a part of who we’re each day. The exhibition of those unique goods, sexy styles and pictures gives people a glimpse of the world beyond the borders of North Korea. This exposure – the fervour for something different – requires reform and governments understand it, writes CNN’s Zain Verjee.
Beauty is freedom for me. People can have more control over their beauty. A North Korean millennial stated that each one her North Korean peers were indignant that they couldn’t dress up. She also said that the North Korean government is brainwashing them, so we still just like the Supreme Leader, but wanting to look pretty is a unique issue. We begin to feel indignant and ask, why shouldn’t we do that?
The activist claims that the federal government is aware of the younger generation’s insurrection against the culture of governance. This condition requires them to adapt to keep up control, which allows for a certain degree of versatility.
The government has a fundamental obligation to answer this issue. Will they make a move or proceed to suppress it?
