Two men convicted in Singapore’s biggest money laundering case were deported to Cambodia on Monday.
Su Wenqiang and Wang Baosen, each 32, are barred from re-entering Singapore, an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) spokesman said in response to CNA’s inquiries.
In April, each men were sentenced to 13 months in prison. CNA contacted authorities to ask why each men were deported weeks after the decision.
Su was the primary suspect to plead guilty within the case and was sentenced on April 2. He pleaded guilty to 11 counts of cash laundering, possessing proceeds from illegal distant gambling and lying to acquire work passes for himself and his wife.
Authorities confiscated greater than A$5.9 million ($4.4 million) in money, vehicles, luxury items and alcohol from Su.
Su is a Cambodian citizen whose passport states he’s from Fujian, China.
Wang, a Chinese national, was sentenced on April 16 after pleading guilty to at least one count of getting almost A$600,000 in illegal proceeds in his wife’s checking account and laundering an extra A$1.48 million to purchase the Park Nova luxury apartment on Tomlinson Road.
The judgment included six other charges.
More than A$8 million price of assets belonging to Wang were seized – money, vehicles, property and collectibles. These include his estate in his wife’s name.
It was previously reported that Wang held Chinese and Vanuatu passports and was not employed in Singapore.

The ICA didn’t explain why Su and Wang were deported to Cambodia, but previously said the place of deportation trusted the “admissibility of the foreigner based on his valid passport.”
Su and Wang were two of 10 people arrested in an island-wide police operation in August 2023 after a gaggle of foreigners tipped off police about possible illegal activities.
More than A$3 billion ($2.2 billion) in assets have been confiscated or frozen in reference to the case. This likely makes this operation one among the biggest money laundering operations on the planet.
In addition to Su and Wang, three other people were convicted within the case.
