A Chinese woman accused of murdering a person in an apartment constructing in Singapore

A 37-year-old woman was charged Singapore on Thursday in court for his alleged involvement within the murder of a 56-year-old man.

Li Ye, a Chinese national, has been charged in state courts with one count of murder for allegedly causing the death of 56-year-old Lim Lai Guan.

Charge sheets show that the incident occurred on Wednesday morning around 1:38 a.m. local time at City Gate Residences on Beach Road.

Li, who stays in custody, appeared in court on Thursday via video link. She was not represented by a lawyer.

Although no plea was entered, Li told the court: “This is manslaughter. I had no intention of murdering this person.”

No bail was offered, and prosecutors asked that Li be placed in custody for every week to revisit the scene.

Li will return to the sphere on May 16.

In a news release Wednesday, police said they were alerted to a call for assistance at a residence on Beach Road around 2 a.m.

“Preliminary investigation showed that a 56-year-old man was lying unconscious within the ward,” the police said, adding that they arrested a 37-year-old woman on the spot.

A knife that was probably used through the incident was also seized.

The man was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Police said the 2 parties were known to one another, but no further details of their relationship were released.

Police investigations are ongoing.

If Li is found guilty of murder, he could face the death penalty.
